PASAY CITY, Philippines – The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has extended assistance to victims of a fire in Barangay 81, Caloocan City.

Through its Lingap Kapwa outreach program, the MIAA donated 476 eco-bags filled with essential items and 50 boxes containing clothing, bags, footwear, and toys to 1,000 displaced individuals or over 200 families who lost their possessions in the fire that occurred on May 14, 2025.

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call to assist communities affected by disasters and as part of MIAA’s corporate social responsibility efforts, essential items were distributed on Tuesday (May 20, 2025) in coordination with Barangay 81 Chairwoman Lerma Coronel.

The donations were sourced from unclaimed lost-and-found items that had been submitted to the MIAA.

The distribution process adheres to MIAA Memorandum Circular 05, Series of 2021, outlining guidelines for item disposal.

“We are pleased to see these items being utilized effectively, especially for those in dire need,” MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines said.
