JERUSALEM – Iran has launched an unprecedented wave of drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel and U.S.-linked military facilities across the Gulf, marking a significant escalation in regional hostilities.

Footage shows dozens of Iranian drones lifting off in coordinated waves, reportedly targeting key Israeli sites, including Ben Gurion Airport and facilities near Dimona, as well as American airbases in the Gulf.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for the strikes, framing them as a direct retaliation for recent coalition attacks on Iranian nuclear and missile infrastructure. Among the deployed weaponry are advanced Arash-2 long-range kamikaze drones.

While numerous videos purporting to show missile and drone launches have circulated on social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), their authenticity remains under scrutiny.

Many users have flagged clips as potentially recycled, AI-generated, or repurposed old footage, highlighting the challenge of verifying information in a rapidly evolving conflict.

On the ground, Iranian missiles have reportedly breached air defenses in several locations, including Arad and Dimona, causing residential damage and numerous casualties.

A rare direct hit near Tel Aviv has also been reported. While interception rates against the massive volley remain high, the sheer volume of projectiles – with reports indicating over 1,200 ballistic missiles and 2,200 drones launched across the region – has severely strained existing air defense systems.

The current exchanges indicate a spiraling conflict, with both sides continuing to trade blows. The Middle East is now bracing for a potentially dramatic and volatile period as the international community assesses the fallout and anticipates further responses.
