Chinese Passenger Arrested At Naia For In-Flight Card Heist

MANILA, Philippines – A 58-year-old Chinese national was arrested upon arrival at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on July 4, 2026, following allegations of in-flight theft. The suspect is accused of stealing bank cards from a fellow passenger during a flight from Bangkok to Manila.

Initial investigations reveal a series of events that led to the swift apprehension. The victim, feeling uncomfortable due to the suspect’s behavior, requested a seat change.

During the victim’s absence, a vigilant cabin crew member observed the suspect handling the victim’s bag. Upon returning, the victim discovered that his debit card, with an approximate balance of AED 1,800 (equivalent to PHP 30,143.45), and a GCash card were missing.

The situation escalated when another cabin crew member witnessed the suspect attempting to return the stolen cards by placing them into the victim’s back pocket. The victim immediately retrieved his property.

In a testament to effective collaboration, the flight crew promptly coordinated with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) before landing.

This crucial communication facilitated the suspect’s immediate arrest upon disembarkation. He was subsequently transferred to NAIA Police Station 1, where charges for theft are being prepared.
