LOS ANGELES, CA – Oscar-winning actress and former UN Special Envoy Angelina Jolie has issued a searing call for immediate humanitarian intervention in Gaza, unveiling satellite imagery that exposes an unprecedented scale of destruction across the region. Her urgent plea emphasizes the dire need for expanded aid and rebuilding efforts for the Palestinian population.

Jolie’s social media posts featured compelling before-and-after satellite views of Gaza, inviting the public to witness the devastation firsthand via Google Earth. “Whole neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble,” Jolie stated, detailing the widespread destruction of essential infrastructure, including homes, schools, universities, hospitals, roads, and critical water and sanitation systems.

Citing United Nations satellite assessments, Jolie highlighted that as of June 16, 2026, a staggering 82% of Gaza’s structures have sustained damage, with approximately two-thirds classified as completely destroyed. The satellite images dramatically illustrate the transformation of densely populated areas, such as those surrounding the Al-Qadisiyah School in Rafah, into vast expanses of ruined buildings and debris.

While acknowledging the undeniable clarity provided by satellite imagery in depicting physical destruction, Jolie underscored its inability to convey the profound human cost. “Google Earth shows the physical destruction with extraordinary clarity,” she wrote. “What it cannot show is what it means to live among it, what happened to the families who were killed, and what life is like for those who survived.”

As winter approaches, Jolie further stressed the escalating crisis, noting that approximately 1.98 million people, or 94% of Gaza’s population, are in urgent need of shelter assistance. She implored governments and international organizations to accelerate humanitarian access, prioritizing the delivery of shelter materials and medical supplies to Gaza’s beleaguered hospitals.

Jolie’s message culminated in a direct challenge to the global community: “The destruction is visible. The needs are known. What matters now is whether they are met.”

Gaza Reveal: Intensifying Humanitarian Crisis

Animal Welfare Crisis Deepens

Four lion cubs at the Nuseirat refugee camp zoo in central Gaza have tragically died due to critical shortages of food, medicine, and adequate veterinary care. This highlights the severe impact of border blockades on all forms of life within the Strip.

Mass Graves Unearthed

In Gaza City’s Al-Taj area, 105 bodies were interred at Sheikh Radwan Cemetery, recovered from the rubble of a residential building destroyed in an October 25, 2023, strike.

This 17-day recovery operation, assisted by an Egyptian committee, brought the total number of bodies retrieved from this single site to at least 221, including 37 children, dozens of women, and journalist Doaa Sharaf and her child. The ongoing challenges of heavy machinery shortages continue to impede efforts to locate thousands believed to remain beneath destroyed structures.
