RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived here on Sunday (July 6, 2025) to lead the United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation at the 17th BRICS Summit.

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

The summit, held July 6-7, marks a pivotal moment for the UAE to deepen its engagement with the influential economic bloc, representing a strategic shift toward greater collaboration with developing and emerging economies.

Sheikh Khaled’s presence underscores the UAE’s commitment to multilateralism and reflects the nation’s growing influence on the global stage.

He is representing UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the event.

The UAE’s inclusion in BRICS, formalized during the 15th Summit in Johannesburg in August 2023, signals a significant step in its foreign policy.

The delegation includes Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince; Maryam Eid Al Mheiri, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Media Office and Strategic Relations Advisor at the Crown Prince Court; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Trade Affairs; and UAE Ambassador to Brazil Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi.
