MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine Airlines (PAL) plane bound for Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan, was forced to make an emergency landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) shortly after takeoff on Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2025) due to a cabin pressure problem.

All 191 passengers and eight crew members deplaned safely.

The Airbus A321 CEO flight PR 412, which left Manila at 9:26 a.m., encountered the cabin problem about 40 minutes into the flight.

In a statement, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna confirmed that the flight crew initiated a controlled descent and declared an emergency as a precautionary measure, adhering to standard safety protocols.

“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew are our top priorities,” Villaluna declared.

“We are in close coordination with the relevant authorities to investigate the incident,” she said.

While details of the pressurization issue remain under investigation, the airline confirmed that the problem was resolved mid-flight, allowing the crew to downgrade the emergency status before safely landing back at NAIA at about 11:15 a.m.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines had verified the successful landing.

The PAL ground operations team provided full assistance to passengers, including meals, baggage support, and rebooking arrangements to minimize disruption to their travel plans.
