MANILA, Philippines – At 22, singer and pilot Janah Zaplan is reinventing herself as Janah Z, launching a new song with a profound message: a call to action against corruption.

Her latest track, “O Panginoon, Pangunahan Mo Ang Pagbabago” (Oh Lord, Lead the Change), isn’t just a worship ballad; it’s a powerful anthem of protest, echoing the constitutional principle that “public office is a public trust.”

In a nation grappling with anomalous flood control projects, ghost infrastructures, and legislators entangled in conflicts of interest, Janah Z’s song arrives as a potent reflection of the nation’s wounds and its yearning for justice.

The song’s composer, publicist-musician Ricky Rivera of Artikulo Onse, vividly recalls its genesis: “One Sunday morning, the melody just flowed… Out of anger, I ended up writing ‘O Panginoon, Pangunahan Mo ang Pagbabago.'”

The track is part of Artikulo Onse’s album, available on major streaming platforms, and encapsulates the organization’s core philosophy.

“Public office is a public trust,” Rivera emphasizes.

“For us in Artikulo Onse, real change is not just political; it must be moral. We’ve lost our moral economy as a nation… We need to reset our moral compass and raise awareness not just in legal terms but in civic consciousness. But above all—no lasting change can happen unless God leads the way. That is the essence of this song.”

He continues, “While the nation suffers from earthquakes, floods, and poverty, leaders and elites continue enriching themselves… These words are not exaggeration; they are reality.”

Rivera believes that cultural change, driven by music and performance, is crucial: “If hope fails in people, hope remains in God. Our fight must be cultural… We must never stop.”

Why Janah Z? Rivera Explains

Rivera’s choice of Janah Z was immediate. “I was immediately impressed by her voice. She’s beautiful, talented, hardworking, and even active in sports. She reflects the spirit of today’s youth.”

Beyond her talent, Rivera was drawn to her courage. “Janah represents a fearless generation—one that understands its social responsibilities, knows what’s happening in government, and feels the right kind of anger. And that anger is what pushes the need for change.”

Speaking with a disarming honesty beyond her years, Janah Z embodies a generation weary of empty promises and recycled lies.

“If we don’t act, who will? If not now, when?” she challenged, adding with calm conviction, “For those who are proven guilty of stealing—let justice run its course. And whatever was taken should be returned to the people.”

Performing a song of this nature marks a turning point for the artist. “I’ve always sung pop,” Janah admits. “But maybe this is the moment to express what I truly feel about what’s happening in our society.”

Janah sees the deeper reality: “There are so many hardworking Filipinos who never receive what they deserve. It’s so unfair. I want to inspire Gen Z and the next generation to be aware of our social responsibility.”

Frustration alone is not enough. As Artikulo Onse champions transparency, accountability, and a moral revival, Janah Z’s launch transcends a mere artistic milestone.

“O Panginoon, Pangunahan Mo ang Pagbabago” transforms into a weapon, a prayer, a promise, and a spark ignited by the youth.

With a microphone, unwavering conviction, and deep faith, Janah Z stands at the forefront, leading Gen Z in the fight against corruption, one song at a time.
