MANILA, Philippines – Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has announced the disbursement of ₱11 million in financial assistance to residents with serious medical conditions under the city government’s KAAGAPAY program.

The announcement, made during the “Talk to the Patients” program on Friday, Feb. 13, underscores the city’s commitment to alleviating the financial burden of hospitalization and related expenses for its constituents.

Moreno stressed the city’s improved fiscal management as the driving force behind its ability to provide substantial aid.

He attributed this success to the continued trust of taxpayers, assuring them that public funds are being channeled toward crucial social services.

“We will do our best. Many thanks to the taxpayers. Because of their trust, we are able to provide some relief to those in need,” he said.

The KAAGAPAY program aims to ease the financial strain on families facing the challenges of illness, particularly those recovering from the emotional and economic fallout of medical emergencies.

The assistance is intended to help cover expenses related to hospitalization, treatment, and rehabilitation, Domagoso said.

He assured beneficiaries that the city government remains dedicated to expanding its reach and providing support to more residents in need.

The program includes patients currently confined in hospitals and children undergoing specialized treatment.

“Money can be lost and earned again. But life, once lost… we hope that doesn’t happen,” the mayor said.

He urged families to prioritize healing and recovery, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of life.

He expressed hope that the city government’s assistance would provide a tangible solution to their problems or, at the very least, significantly reduce their financial burden.

The KAAGAPAY program represents a significant investment in the well-being of Manila residents, highlighting Domagoso’s focus on the use of public funds to address social needs.
