IBA, Zambales – Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have arrested a Mongolian national for suspicious activities detrimental to national security.

The arrest of Boldbaatar Bold-Erdene, 30, a graduating pilot student, was made in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and other law enforcement agencies.

A joint operation on Feb. 12 at an aviation school in Barangay Lipay, Dingin, was conducted by operatives from the BI Intelligence Division–Special Response Team and elements of the AFP’s 69th Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division.

The Iba Municipal Police Station, Zambales Provincial Police Office, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 3, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, PNP Internal Affairs, PRO 3, and various government intelligence agencies joined the operation.

Following his arrest, the BI designated Bold-Erdene as an undesirable alien, citing his potential risk to public interest and safety.

Intelligence sources said he is a trained jet fighter pilot with suspected ties to the Chinese government.

During flight training exercises, he allegedly conducted unauthorized aerial photography of Iba Airport and the Palauig River area, located about five nautical miles from the airport.

The actions raised concerns about potential espionage activities and threats to national security.

“The Philippines will not permit its institutions, including civilian training facilities, to be exploited for activities that could jeopardize national security,” the BI said.

Bold-Erdene was transported to the BI Main Office in Manila for booking, medical examination, and biometric registration.

He is now detained at the BI Warden Facility pending deportation proceedings.
