MANILA, Philippines – Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) has received landmark recognition as the first and only Philippine carrier independently assessed for its commitment to gender equality and workplace inclusion. This prestigious acknowledgment from the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) solidifies Cebu Pacific’s role as a trailblazer in fostering a diverse and equitable work environment.

The airline’s commendation, announced on June 30, marks the successful completion of 17 rigorous initiatives under the Gender Equality Assessment, Results, and Strategies (GEARS) framework. This comprehensive evaluation covered critical areas, including leadership accountability, flexible work arrangements, workplace safety, and LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

“Our pride comes not just from being the first, but from our unwavering dedication to cultivating a workplace where every individual can thrive,” affirmed Felix Lopez, CEB Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are committed to continuously enhancing our programs, actively engaging with our employees, and ensuring that inclusion remains an intrinsic part of our daily operations.”

Cebu Pacific’s proactive stance on Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) is highlighted by several impactful initiatives. These include the extension of comprehensive healthcare benefits to employees’ same-sex and common-law partners, alongside mandatory DEI training for all leaders and new hires. These efforts are championed by the Juan CEB Community (JCC), the airline’s dedicated employee resource group advocating for women, LGBTQIA+ employees, solo parents, and persons with disabilities.

The airline’s commitment to inclusivity extends beyond its internal workforce. In a pioneering move in June 2026, Cebu Pacific welcomed three Deaf student interns from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde’s School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) through its FLY Internship Program. This initiative was preceded by a comprehensive Deaf Awareness Session for employees, fostering a deeper understanding of Deaf culture and promoting inclusive communication practices.

Cebu Pacific also showcased significant strides in gender representation, with women now constituting 54% of its management workforce. This impressive growth extends to traditionally male-dominated technical and operational roles, including a notable increase in female pilots, demonstrating a tangible shift towards balanced representation across all levels.

The PBCWE, an independent business coalition, empowers organizations to enhance gender equality and workplace inclusion by benchmarking their policies and practices against rigorous international standards through its impactful GEARS framework. Cebu Pacific’s achievement underscores its profound dedication to building a truly inclusive and equitable future.
