US Navy Sailors Confined After Pattaya Altercation: Incident Highlights Conduct and Port Call Protocols

Meanwhile, two US Navy sailors from the USS Abraham Lincoln were confined to their aircraft carrier after an early morning altercation outside a Pattaya bar on September 4th. The incident, occurring around 1:30 AM near Walking Street, prompted a local resident to alert emergency services, fearing escalation.

Thai police, responding to the scene, characterized the incident as minor, attributing it to the intoxication of both sailors. Officers facilitated their transfer to the joint US-Thai operations center at the Hard Rock Cafe before they were returned to the USS Abraham Lincoln.

As a direct consequence, the involved sailors will remain aboard for the duration of the five-day port call, foregoing any further shore leave. The USS Abraham Lincoln, carrying approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines, arrived at Laem Chabang on September 3rd and is scheduled to depart Thailand on Sunday.
