MANILA, Philippines — A bombshell revelation has rocked the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), with Secretary Henry Aguda confirming the existence of internal hackers actively harvesting the personal data of Filipino citizens.

Aguda’s admission came in a recent interview on DZRH’s “Dos por Dos” program hosted by Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja.

During the interview, Taberna asked Aguda about the explosive allegation: “Is our information confirmed that there are hackers inside the DICT, and that they are hacking government agencies?”

Instead of denying the accusation, Aguda admitted that there are rogues within his department.

He revealed that an independent internal audit, commissioned by his office, had uncovered the “infiltration.”

According to Aguda, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is now actively investigating the matter, gathering evidence to prosecute those involved in the alleged data breaches.

The implications of this internal hacking scandal are alarming.

The DICT, the very agency tasked with safeguarding the nation’s digital infrastructure and protecting citizen data, is now facing accusations of harboring individuals who are actively compromising national security.

“This isn’t just alarming; it’s a national security breach happening from within,” he said.

His program further alluded to a potential connection to an individual named Klammer, suggesting a broader network of individuals involved in alleged hacking activities.

The confirmation of internal hacking activities within the DICT raises serious questions about the security protocols and vetting processes within the department.

It also underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive overhaul of cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive government data and the personal information of Filipino citizens.

The CICC’s investigation is now under intense scrutiny, as the nation awaits answers and accountability for the unprecedented breach of trust.
