MANILA, Philippines – Newly appointed Customs Collector at the Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) District, Alexandra Yap Lomontad, is projecting a P5-billion revenue for the government this month.

A seasoned collector, Lomontad served as the district collector at the Port of Cagayan de Oro City, where she earned a reputation for her aggressive stance against smuggling.

Her achievements include the interception of millions of pesos worth of smuggled cigarettes and various contraband.

Upon taking office, she immediately challenged personnel to attain her goal.

“Achieving the BOC target for July, which is P5 billion, is my immediate priority,” Lomontad said.

The Port of NAIA, which is overseen by Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno, relies on a variety of sources to generate revenue.

These include collections from warehouses, the Central Mail Exchange Center, and passenger services.

A significant portion of the projected revenue is expected to originate from key cargo warehouses.

Pair Cargo warehouse is seen to contribute P2,832,775,551.20, followed by PAL/PSI warehouse with P725,836,320.89.

Other contributors include CargoHaus, P69,003,016.12; DHL warehouse, P394,571,208.31; TMW, P551,176,733.62; and ECCF, P132,141,808.50.

CMEC is expected to generate P13,239,084.31, while duties and taxes collected from incoming passengers are projected at P69,662,269.76.

Other sources are expected to contribute P129,412,006.29.

These combined projections total P4,917,820,000 this month, leaving Lomontad and her team with the task of identifying and capitalizing on additional revenue streams to meet their P5-billion target.
