CEBU CITY, Philippines – The nation’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), has stepped up efforts to provide critical aid to residents of Cebu devastated by a recent earthquake, airlifting nearly 20 tons of essential humanitarian cargo.

The mission, a collaborative effort between the Lucio Tan Group, government agencies, private sector partners, and PAL, underscores the airline’s commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis.

The relief effort saw the Lucio Tan Group and Asia Brewery Corp. donate 3,000 three-liter water containers, totaling 19 tons, providing a supply of clean drinking water.

Complementing this vital resource, the Philippine Red Cross contributed 654 kilograms (0.654 tons) of quick response kits, including hygiene and psychosocial support items, addressing immediate needs and offering emotional support to those affected.

The PAL Foundation, Inc., the airline’s corporate social responsibility arm, played a pivotal role in orchestrating the seamless transport of the humanitarian cargo.

Working in close coordination with PAL Cargo teams in Manila and Cebu, the foundation ensured the efficient and timely delivery of aid to those who need it most.

“Philippine Airlines is committed to extending urgent assistance to our fellow Filipinos affected by the recent quake,” said a PAL official.

“We will continue to undertake these efforts within the capabilities of our available aircraft, carrying out humanitarian missions alongside our regular flight schedules.”

The airline emphasized its solidarity with the people of Cebu during this challenging period, reaffirming its dedication to providing support wherever it is needed.
