MANILA, Philippines – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is preparing for a surge in travelers this Undas season, activating “Oplan Undas 2025” from Oct. 25 to Nov. 3.

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) aims to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient experience for about 1.35 million passengers expected to transit through its terminals – a four percent increase from last year.

“Undas is a peak travel period, and we’re committed to managing the increased volume effectively,” said NNIC President Ramon Ang.

“We’ve deployed additional personnel, enhanced coordination with government partners, and established passenger assistance counters to streamline the journey for every traveler.”

Enhanced Security and Assistance

NNIC is collaborating closely with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and other key agencies to ensure adequate resources across all terminals.

Security measures are being bolstered with increased patrols by PNP Special Operations Unit (SOU) teams and K-9 units.

Passenger assistance counters are strategically located throughout the airport to provide directions, answer inquiries, and manage lost-and-found items.

Modernization Efforts Pay Off

This marks the second Undas operation under NNIC’s private management, and passengers are now benefiting from ongoing modernization efforts.

Since taking over in September last year, NNIC has achieved a record-high on-time performance (OTP) of 92.29 percent.

The airport has served 51.7 million passengers in its first year, a four percent increase year-over-year.

NNIC has also remitted P57 billion to the government, including a P30 billion upfront payment, under an 82.16 percent revenue share – the highest among all public-private partnerships in the Philippines.

Investing in Passenger Experience

To date, P3.25 billion has been invested in upgrades as part of a P72 billion, five-year capital expenditure program.

These improvements include:

  • More reliable infrastructure: Stable power and air-conditioning systems, flood-free access roads, and stronger Wi-Fi.
  • Improved accessibility: A centralized TNVS hub, automated parking system, wider curbsides, and smoother terminal access.
  • Enhanced dining and relaxation: New food halls and passenger lounges, with nine of 22 restaurants already open at Terminal 3.

Technology and Comfort Upgrades

Other key initiatives include:

  • Real-time flight information: Installation of 95% of 586 new Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) for a quieter terminal environment.
  • Faster processing: Deployment of 517 biometric-enabled passenger processing units for quicker check-in, boarding, and security screening.
  • Streamlined immigration: Ongoing installation of 78 Immigration e-gates and 113 verification desks, with Phase 1 targeted for completion by December 2025.

Travel Tips for a Hassle-Free Undas

NNIC advises passengers to arrive early – three hours before international flights and two hours for domestic – and to allow extra time for security screening.

Passengers are also reminded to pack smart, keep valuables safe, and avoid bringing prohibited items.
