MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine Air Force (PAF) aircraft tragically crashed into the rugged terrain of Mt. Sto. Tomas in Sitio Cabuyao, Barangay Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet, on Wednesday morning, leaving both crew members injured.

The incident, which occurred around 10:20 AM, was reported to local authorities at 11:40 AM. A multi-agency rescue team responded to the crash site.

The ill-fated aircraft, identified by Benguet police spokesperson Lt. Col. Roy Calulot as a distinctive gray, white, and orange PAF plane bearing tail number 10-39, suffered an undisclosed malfunction that led to the crash.

Authorities have identified one of the injured crew members as First Lieutenant Ruth Angelique R. Pasos. The identity of the second crew member, a male pilot, has yet to be officially released pending further notification.

Responding units from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), aided by vigilant local residents, swiftly located the crash site.

The crew members were found unconscious amidst the wreckage and immediately received emergency medical assistance before being transported for medical treatment.

Details regarding the specific condition of the injured personnel remain undisclosed by authorities, as a comprehensive investigation is now underway to determine the precise cause of the crash.

This incident raises critical questions regarding aircraft maintenance, flight safety protocols, and operational procedures within the Philippine Air Force. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
