TAGUIG, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended a Russian vlogger who gained notoriety on social media for his harassment of Filipinos in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

BI intelligence division chief Manahan Jr. confirmed the arrest of 33-year-old Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, who was declared as an undesirable alien following his controversial online posts.

Zdorovetskiy’s arrest is part of the government’s drive to protect the rights and dignity of Filipino citizens.

Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stresed that while Filipinos are known for their hospitality, it is imperative that foreign visitors show respect for local customs and adhere to Philippine laws.

“The Philippines is open to tourists from around the globe, but those who exploit our kindness and violate our regulations will be held accountable,” Viado said.

“Harassment and disruptive conduct are unacceptable in our society, and we will promptly address any violations,” he added.

Zdorovetskiy faced backlash from netizens after sharing videos that depicted him harassing locals while filming in BGC.

The arrest was executed in collaboration with the Makati Police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

A security guard stationed in BGC filed a report with the Southern Police District on the harassment incident.

The CIDG immediately coordinated with BI intelligence operatives, leading to Zdorovetskiy’s arrest.

He has since been moved to the BI’s detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig, where he awaits deportation proceedings.
