MANILA, Philippines – A police officer has been arrested for allegedly discharging his firearm inside a vape shop.

The officer, who was not immediately identified, was collared on July 31 in Barangay 33, Maypajo, Caloocan City, according to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin.

Video footage of the incident reportedly shows the officer apologizing after the incident.

Aberin warned that he would not tolerate any abuse by policemen.

He ordered an investigation and possible filing of administrative or criminal charges against the policeman if evidence so warrants.

He stressed the NCRPO’s commitment to accountability.

“This serves as a warning to all members of the NCRPO that abuses will not be tolerated and will be acted upon immediately. The consequences are clear: they will either be removed from service or be imprisoned,” Aberin said.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Further details will be released as they become available.
