MANILA, Philippines – Cebu Pacific, the country’s leading airline, has been recognized for its role in boosting the nation’s tourism sector.

The airline received the prestigious “Tourism Industry Excellence Award” during the Department of Tourism’s inaugural Philippine Tourism Awards.

The award, presented at a ceremony at Okada Manila on Sept. 8, acknowledged CEB’s pioneering initiatives in budget air travel and its significant contribution to the growth of the Philippine tourism industry.

CEB is one of only two Philippine companies to receive the distinction—a testament to its innovative approach to making air travel accessible to a wider population.

Since 1996, the airline has been credited with revolutionizing budget travel, driving domestic tourism to unprecedented levels.

“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Department of Tourism,” said Candice Iyog, CEB chief marketing and customer experience officer.

“Since day one, our mission has been to make flying accessible to every Juan because we believe that tourism has the power to uplift communities and strengthen our economy.”

This recognition affirms our commitment to continue offering low fares, connecting cities and countries, and creating opportunities for our valued passengers to discover the Philippines, one island at a time.”

The Philippine Tourism Awards, a key component of the DOT’s national recognition program, celebrates individuals, enterprises, and organizations that are instrumental in driving the country’s tourism development.

Awardees were selected from a diverse range of categories, including hotels and resorts, tour operators, transport providers, MICE venues, community-based tourism groups, and media.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco lauded the awardees, citing their contributions to the nation.

“Your success is our nation’s pride,” she said.

“You are proof that the Filipino spirit of hospitality, innovation, and perseverance can carry our nation forward. Today, we honor you, but in truth, it is our country that is honored by your work,” Frasco declared.

Cebu Pacific, approaching its third decade in operation, has consistently championed affordable and accessible air travel, expanding connectivity to underserved destinations and implementing popular seat sales and promotions, most notably the “Piso Sale,” which has made flying within the Philippines and internationally a reality for millions.

Currently, CEB operates in over 60 destinations, boasting the widest domestic network in the Philippines with 37 local destinations across its hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, Davao, and Iloilo.

The airline also serves 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, further solidifying its commitment to supporting tourism and economic growth through network expansion and enhanced customer experience.
