MANILA, Philippines – Philippine Airlines (PAL) is set to redefine pet travel in the Philippines with its new “FurPAL” program, allowing passengers to fly in-cabin with their small dogs to popular destinations like Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao.

Starting Dec. 1, fur parents can book these pet-friendly flights, with reservations opening on Nov. 12, for a one-way base fare of P2,500.

“As the first mover in pet air travel in the Philippines, we recognize the unbreakable bond between people and their beloved pets,” said PAL Vice President for Marketing Alvin Miranda.

“With FurPAL, we are making it more convenient for them to take a vacation with their pets and create unforgettable memories together.”

The airline is implementing the program with a measured approach.

“We are initially offering this service for small dogs and can expand to other dog sizes and pet types depending on aviation security and safety regulations,” Miranda said.

Island Hopping with Your Hound: Booking Details

FurPAL flights are currently available for routes between Manila and the idyllic islands of Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao.

Booking is streamlined through the PAL website:

• Choose: Select a FurPAL-eligible flight to your desired island destination.

• Click: On the “Travel Boost” page, select the FurPAL option to include your pet in the booking.

• Confirm: Review flight details, complete payment, and prepare for a comfortable journey with your furry companion.

Ensuring a Safe, Comfortable Flight for All

PAL has implemented stringent guidelines to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.

Breed and Size Restrictions:

• Only small dog breeds weighing up to 10 kg and at least eight weeks old are permitted.*

Limited Pets Per Flight:

• Each passenger can bring one pet, with a maximum of three small dogs allowed per flight.

Carrier Requirements:

• Pets must travel in soft-sided, leak-proof carriers with pee pads and ventilation, with maximum dimensions of 17” x 11” x 9.5”. The carrier must remain under the seat in front of the passenger throughout the flight.*

Health and Safety:

• Mandatory health certificates, vaccination records, and a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry are required. Pet sedation is strictly prohibited.*

Clean Air and Surfaces:

• All PAL flights are equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters, eliminating 99.99% of airborne particles. Cabin surfaces are disinfected with eco-friendly cleaning agents before each flight.*
