BULACAN, Philippines – Vice Governor Alexis Collera Castro is making significant strides in Bulacan by prioritizing integrity, accountability, and citizen-focused governance throughout his extensive public service career.

Castro emphasizes that authentic leadership requires tangible action and visible results.

“A good leader must always set a good example for others to follow,” Castro stated. “Leadership shouldn’t just be talked about; it should be felt and seen through concrete action.”

Castro’s political journey began as an SK Chairman, a grassroots experience that shaped his grounded leadership style.

Without political connections or elite support, he learned the value of hard work and perseverance.

“I started with nothing, with no relatives in politics,” he explained. “My journey had many ups and downs, but through perseverance, hard work, and God’s guidance, I eventually reached this point.”

His steady ascent culminated in a historic electoral victory, securing 1,360,020 votes, a testament to the public’s trust.

“We made history,” Castro proudly declared. “I sincerely thank the people for their overwhelming support and trust.”

Castro firmly believes that public funds should directly benefit the community.

“The people’s money should go to those who truly need it,” he asserted. “With good governance, there is no room for corruption, and projects genuinely serve the community.”

His key advocacies include education, healthcare access, environmental sustainability, and transparency in public infrastructure.

Addressing the controversies surrounding DPWH projects in Bulacan in 2025, Castro emphasized the importance of future accountability.

“The year 2025 was not easy for Bulacan because of the controversies surrounding infrastructure projects,” he acknowledged. “But in 2026, we face these challenges with hope. There are already cases being handled at the national level, and those responsible for corruption must be held accountable.”

He further emphasized the crucial role of local government in project implementation.

“Infrastructure projects are implemented more effectively when they pass through local governments,” Castro explained. “When this process is bypassed, accountability becomes unclear, and problems arise.”

Castro has also been a vocal critic of water service issues involving PrimeWater, describing the situation as a systemic, nationwide problem.

“In different provinces, the problems are the same. That clearly shows the issue is systemic,” he stated. “If contracts need to be terminated, then they should be terminated. The public deserves better service and real choices.”

Castro collaborates closely with Governor Daniel Fernando, sharing a vision of transparent, corruption-free governance.

“There should be no ghost projects and no substandard work,” Castro emphasized. “Every peso of public money must be put to good use and felt by the people. This is what the Governor and I are working toward.”

Beyond his political commitments, Castro is a dedicated family man, supporting his wife, Sunshine Garcia, a former member of the iconic dance group SexBomb Girls, and celebrating her successful concert comeback.

“I am genuinely happy for my wife,” Castro said. “I am very proud that her concert was a success… I am extremely proud that my wife is happy. Even after surgery, she still gave an incredible performance.”

He emphasized the mutual support they provide each other. “She is very supportive of my work as Vice Governor, and in return, I give her my full support. I watch her performances together with our children.”

Despite offers to return to acting, Castro remains committed to public service.

“There have been offers for television projects, but the schedule is a challenge,” he explained. “As Vice Governor, Bulacan requires my full attention. This is the responsibility I have sworn to uphold.”

“I was already in public service before entering show business,” he added. “Right now, serving the people is my main focus.”

When asked about his future plans, Castro remains grounded and guided by faith.

“Politics can be planned, but destiny cannot,” he concluded. “I leave everything to God and to the people.”

Whether in governance, advocacy, or public accountability, Vice Governor Alex Castro exemplifies that true leadership is driven by service, humility, and leading by example.
