MANILA – The Philippines’ iconic Jukebox Queen, Imelda Papin, marked her milestone birthday with a surprise celebration, a dazzling affair that underscored her enduring musical legacy and unwavering dedication to public service.

The soirée, held at the opulent Hotel Okura Manila on Jan. 25, was orchestrated by family and friends as a touching tribute to the icon.

Believing she was attending a simple family dinner, Papin was instead greeted by a breathtaking silver, gray, and white-themed gala.

A burst of confetti and the arrival of a constellation of surprise guests heralded an evening brimming with emotion and joy, a testament to the love and admiration she commands.

“I honestly thought it was just dinner with my family,” confessed a visibly moved Papin, her eyes sparkling with emotion.

“I never expected this. I was so surprised and touched. I cried because I felt so loved.”

Family members, some having flown in from across the globe, filled the room with laughter and heartfelt embraces.

Papin was presented with a custom-made red gown, shimmering with golden sequins — a visual embodiment of her regal status and unwavering commitment as a public servant.

The celebration flowed seamlessly into an intimate happy hour, where guests savored authentic Japanese delicacies and serenaded Papin with her timeless hits, including the iconic “Bakit” and “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig.”

Demonstrating her innate generosity, Papin incorporated games into the festivities, showering lucky attendees with cash prizes.

However, the most compelling testament to Papin’s character unfolded the following day.

Eschewing further celebrations, she dedicated her actual birthday, Jan. 26, to an out-of-town medical mission, extending a helping hand to those in need.

“All I wanted for my birthday was to serve,” Papin declared, her voice resonating with purpose.

“That’s my joy. That’s my purpose. If God gives me another year, I want to use it to help more people.”

Her daughter, Maffi, announced her intention to continue her mother’s legacy of service, revealing plans to pursue a career as a lawyer, ensuring the flame of compassion burns bright for generations to come.

Adding to the evening’s glittering tributes, King of Pinoy Rap Andrew E surprised Papin with a musical performance, serenading her with a soulful rendition of “Wonderful Tonight” and a custom-written version tailored specifically for the Jukebox Queen.

“Imelda is a true friend,” Andrew E shared, his words carrying genuine affection.

“Real friendship means staying together in good times and bad. I wish her good health, happiness with her family, and strength as she continues serving our people.”

The celebration drew a glittering array of figures from the entertainment and media industries, including Richard Reynoso, Gary Cruz, John Nite, Andrew E’s wife Mylene Yap Espiritu, veteran writer Aster Amoyo, DJ Machete Joey Sarmiento, Lhar Santiago, and movie producer Baby F. Go, all eager to celebrate the enduring icon.

In closing, Papin reiterated her unwavering commitment to serving with honesty, compassion, and a caring heart.

She remains steadfast in her dedication to the Filipino people, solidifying her legacy as the original and undisputed Jukebox Queen.

Her birthday celebration served as a powerful and glamorous reaffirmation of that enduring commitment, a testament to a life lived in service and song.
