Philippines Intensifies Crackdown on Overstaying, Illegal Aliens

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine government, under the direct order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to fortify national borders and enforce immigration laws with renewed vigor, has launched an intensified crackdown on foreign nationals violating immigration regulations. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is leading this nationwide initiative, targeting individuals who overstay their visas, work without proper authorization, or conceal their true immigration status.

This aggressive enforcement campaign has yielded significant results in recent operations across both Northern Luzon and the island province of Bohol.

Northern Luzon Operations Net Five Foreign Nationals

From July 30 to 31, intelligence-driven operations in Northern Luzon resulted in the arrest of five foreign nationals across Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Zambales, and Pampanga. Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the arrested individuals as:

Sahil Kumar (23, Indian national)

 Apprehended in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, for overstaying and failing to present valid immigration documents. Reports also indicate his involvement in an illicit “5-6” lending scheme.

Sharendran Doss Devadoss (29, Indian national)

Arrested in Balagtas, Bulacan, after failing to produce a valid passport or immigration documents, with BI records confirming an expired authorized stay.

Huang Pengpeng (39, Chinese national)

Detained in Subic, Zambales, for remaining in the country beyond his authorized period.

Jin Su Deok (51, South Korean national) and Oh Eiseok (49, South Korean national)

Arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga, for actively managing a restaurant without the required visas or work permits and failing to present valid immigration documents upon inspection.

All five are now at the BI main office in Manila, undergoing documentation and the initiation of deportation proceedings.

Commissioner Viado issued a stern warning: “The Philippines will not tolerate foreigners who deliberately violate our immigration laws. We will locate, arrest, and deport those who overstay, work illegally, or hide their immigration status. These intelligence-driven operations will be sustained nationwide to protect the integrity of our borders.”

Bohol Crackdown Apprehends Two Overstaying Foreigners

Concurrently, intelligence operations in Bohol, executed on July 30 by the BI’s Regional Intelligence Operations Unit 7 (RIOU-7) in coordination with local police, led to the apprehension of two overstaying foreign nationals.

Florian Clemens Alexander Klingler (35, German national)

Arrested in Das-ag, Poblacion, Panglao. While presenting visa extension receipts, his last valid stay expired in October 2025, indicating a violation of his immigration status.

Dimitar Tsakov Maknev (43, Bulgarian national)

 Apprehended in Poblacion, Inabanga, after failing to produce any immigration documents during the operation, confirming an expired authorized stay.

Both individuals were found to be in violation of their immigration conditions.

Commissioner Viado commended the regional intelligence units, highlighting their crucial role as a “vital force multiplier” in enforcing immigration laws beyond the capital. “These successful operations in Bohol demonstrate that immigration enforcement is active across the country, with strong partnerships with local police enabling swift action against violators,” Viado stated.

He further reiterated the bureau’s resolute stance: “We are sending a clear message: there is no place in the Philippines for foreign nationals who disregard our immigration laws. Whether in major cities or island provinces, we will continue to locate, arrest, and deport those who abuse the privilege of staying in our country.”
