Israeli Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing in the West Bank

OCCUPIED WEST BANK, Palestinian Territory – A systematic campaign of home demolitions and displacement by Israeli authorities has intensified in the occupied West Bank, drawing accusations of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity against Palestinians.

Since 2015, Israeli forces have issued 9,518 demolition or stop-work notices targeting Palestinian structures, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission. This aggressive policy, coupled with escalating settler violence and unprecedented settlement expansion, paints a grim picture of a population under siege.

Hebron bears the brunt of this assault, with 2,697 notices issued, followed by Bethlehem, Ramallah, al-Bireh, and Jerusalem. These notices are not mere bureaucratic hurdles; they are instruments of control designed to stifle Palestinian development, limit community expansion, and erode the ability to sustain livelihoods.

The human cost is staggering. UN data reveals that nearly 20,000 structures have been demolished since 2015, displacing over 180,000 Palestinians and directly impacting approximately 1,000,000 people.

The destruction extends beyond statistics. In villages like Umm Al-Khair, families watch in despair as Israeli bulldozers raze their homes. Children are denied the fundamental freedom to walk to school, their paths now blocked by razor wire laid by increasingly aggressive Israeli settlers.

This campaign of demolitions occurs amidst a dramatic surge in violent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, which have escalated sharply over the past two years. Simultaneously, the Israeli government has approved a record number of new settlements, further entrenching the occupation and solidifying a reality that international legal experts increasingly equate with apartheid.

The relentless destruction of Palestinian homes, the forced displacement of communities, and the escalating violence, all under the guise of legal notices, expose a deliberate and systematic effort to dispossess Palestinians of their land and undermine their very existence. These actions demand urgent international scrutiny and accountability.
