PARIS – Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ largest carrier, has solidified its commitment to sustainable growth with a long-term EngineWise™ maintenance agreement with Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business.

The 12-year deal, announced today (June 17, 2025), provides comprehensive support for the airline’s growing fleet of GTF (geared turbofan) engines, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

The agreement directly aligns Cebu Pacific’s maintenance costs with engine utilization, providing greater financial predictability as the airline expands its network.

This strategic move comes on the heels of Cebu Pacific’s significant engine orders in 2024, including a historic purchase of up to 152 A321neo aircraft and engines for 15 A320neo family aircraft.

“Maintaining the performance and efficiency of our fleet is a top priority,” said Mike Szucs, chief executive officer of Cebu Pacific.

“The GTF engine has enabled up to a 20% reduction in fuel burn compared to previous-generation engines – translating into meaningful savings in fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and reduced operating costs. This agreement strengthens our ability to scale sustainably while continuing to deliver on our commitments to passengers.”

Pratt & Whitney’s EngineWise program offers Cebu Pacific access to crucial technical expertise, comprehensive fleet data, and business intelligence, streamlining maintenance planning and enhancing operational transparency.

“The agreement reflects our ongoing collaboration with Cebu Pacific to optimize the reliability and efficiency of their fleet,” declared Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney.

“It underscores our commitment to enabling our customers’ network expansion and growth,” he added.

The GTF engines are a key component of Cebu Pacific’s sustainability strategy, delivering significant fuel savings and reduced emissions.

The airline currently operates 56 Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft, a relationship dating back to the 1990s when Pratt & Whitney supplied JT8D engines for its DC-9 fleet.

This long-term maintenance agreement reinforces Cebu Pacific’s position as a leading airline in the region, committed to providing affordable and sustainable air travel.

The airline currently operates a fleet of 98 aircraft, serving 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
