MANILA, Philippines – Eight officers from the Eastern Police District’s (EPD) District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) are behind bars, facing serious allegations of robbery stemming from what appears to be a rogue anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Palatiw, Pasig City.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, has triggered an internal investigation and cast a shadow over the EPD.

According to initial reports, the DDEU officers entered a residential house purportedly belonging to a suspected drug personality.

However, residents subsequently filed a complaint, alleging that personal belongings were stolen during the operation.

The Pasig City Police Station swiftly responded to the report, launching an immediate investigation.

Crucially, verification revealed that the involved officers failed to present any official documentation authorizing a legitimate anti-illegal drugs operation at the specified location.

This lack of proper authorization raised immediate red flags and prompted authorities to take decisive action.

As a result, the eight police officers, along with one other suspect implicated in the incident, were immediately taken into custody by the Pasig City Police Station.

They are slated to undergo inquest proceedings, where prosecutors will determine if there is sufficient evidence to file formal charges.

The officers have also been disarmed, pending the outcome of the investigation.

The gravity of the situation has drawn the attention of top police officials.

National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin has ordered a thorough and impartial investigation into the case, vowing to hold all those involved accountable for their actions.

“I have personally directed a full investigation into this case to ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” said Aberin in a press statement.

“The NCRPO has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of abuse of authority, misconduct, or violation of police operational procedures. We will not hesitate to take swift and decisive action against any officer who betrays the public trust,” he said.
