MANILA, Philippines – In a heartwarming display of national gratitude, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) extended a warm welcome to 312 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) arriving from Kuwait on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, ushering in the New Year with a special “Bagong Taong Salubong sa OFWs” (New Year’s Greeting for OFWs) event at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

The initiative, a poignant recognition of the sacrifices and contributions of Filipino migrant workers to their families and the nation, underscored the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring OFWs feel valued, supported, and cared for upon their return home.

OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, PCSO Chairman Judge Felix P. Reyes (Ret.), renowned singer and multi-awarded “Jukebox Queen” Imelda Papin, and esteemed members of the PCSO Board of Directors, including Jennifer E. Liongson-Guevara and Janet De Leon Mercado, were present to greet the returning heroes.

A highlight of the event was the distribution of “Charitimba,” PCSO’s in-kind assistance packages, to each OFW. These packages, designed to address immediate needs, served as a tangible gesture of support and a symbol of the nation’s appreciation as the OFWs reunited with their loved ones.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, in an address filled with empathy and understanding, emphasized the significance of welcoming OFWs home and reaffirmed PCSO’s unwavering commitment to supporting their families in the Philippines while they work abroad.

“PCSO stands as a partner to your families here in the Philippines, ready to assist and provide support while you continue to work abroad,” Robles stated. “We want to assure you that you are not alone. As you strive to build a better future for your loved ones, PCSO remains committed to looking after the welfare of your families back home.”

The presence of Imelda Papin, a celebrated figure in Filipino music, added a touch of warmth and familiarity to the event. Her participation highlighted the collective effort of various sectors in recognizing and honoring the contributions of OFWs.

OWWA officials echoed Robles’ sentiments, reiterating the agency’s dedication to providing comprehensive welfare programs, reintegration assistance, and support services to OFWs and their families.

The “PCSO Bagong Taong Salubong sa OFWs” is a testament to PCSO’s ongoing social responsibility initiatives, carried out in close collaboration with partner agencies, to extend timely assistance and compassion to Filipino workers and their families. This initiative serves as a powerful reminder of the nation’s gratitude and unwavering support for the sacrifices made by OFWs in pursuit of a brighter future for their loved ones.
