MANILA, Philippines – The modernization of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is rapidly progressing, with 34 international airlines now fully integrated into the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) Advance Passenger Information System (APIS).

This crucial connectivity enables the real-time transmission of essential flight and passenger data to immigration authorities prior to arrivals and departures, marking a significant stride towards a more secure and efficient travel experience at the Philippines’ primary gateway.

NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC), the private operator spearheading the airport’s transformation, highlights that this integration is pivotal for accelerating passenger processing and bolstering national security.

By proactively receiving passenger information, immigration officials can expedite pre-screening, streamline operations at immigration counters, and unlock the full potential of the BI’s new e-gates. These state-of-the-art e-gates, a key component of NAIA’s modernization program, were procured by NNIC to enhance efficiency and passenger flow.

While significant progress has been made, the BI reports that eleven additional airlines are still finalizing their APIS integration. To ensure comprehensive compliance and maximize the benefits of these automated systems, the BI has mandated that all remaining international airlines operating in the Philippines achieve full APIS connectivity and commence regular data transmission by June 30, 2026.

NNIC emphasizes that universal airline participation is critical to realizing the full benefits of automated border control, substantially reducing processing times, and ultimately elevating the overall passenger experience at NAIA.

The corporation reaffirms its commitment to collaborating closely with the BI, airlines, and all airport stakeholders to establish a faster, safer, and more efficient travel environment at the nation’s principal airport.
