BRISBANE, Australia – The wreckage of a K2 Airways Boeing 737 cargo plane has been located in the Arabian Sea, approximately 98 kilometers south of Ormara port, twelve hours after it vanished from radar. Despite the discovery, a grim search continues for the five-person crew, including two pilots, two engineers, and one support staff member, whose status remains officially undeclared.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his “heartfelt condolences” to the families of the missing, reflecting grave concerns for their safety.

“After 12 hours of search and rescue operations in the deep sea, we have successfully located and identified the wreckage of K2 Airways Cargo B737, which was declared missing last night,” announced the Pakistan Airports Authority via Facebook. The statement confirmed the deployment of “various air and sea-borne assets” in the arduous search and rescue efforts to locate the crew.

K2 Airways, in a statement posted on its Facebook page, identified the five crew members and expressed fervent prayers for the “safety of our colleagues.” Photographs from the Pakistan Airports Authority show discernible “K2 AIR” markings on the recovered debris.

Flight KTA1732 was en route from Sharjah, UAE, to Karachi when it began experiencing critical navigational system failures around 9:18 PM on Tuesday. Air traffic controllers in Karachi attempted to guide the 27-year-old converted freighter, but radar observations indicated the aircraft was “rapidly descending with a rapid heading change.” Communication and radar contact were subsequently lost.

Flightradar24 data paints a harrowing picture: the aircraft reportedly plummeted 5,000 feet in under a minute, briefly ascended approximately 6,000 feet in 30 seconds, before entering a catastrophic dive from an altitude of 36,550 feet.

The investigation into the cause of this tragic incident is expected to be comprehensive, seeking to understand the sudden and dramatic loss of control that led to the plane’s disappearance.
