2 in Slay-Robbery of 2 Japanese Nationals Charged; Hunt on for Other Suspect

MANILA, Philippines – The Manila Police District (MPD) has filed murder and robbery charges against the suspects in the shooting on Sunday night (Aug. 17, 2024) of two Japanese nationals in Malate, Manila.

The suspects, brothers aged 50 and 62, were not immediately identified pending further investigation.

They were presented to the Manila Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday (Aug. 19, 2024) for inquest proceedings, following their arrest in Minalin, Pampanga, on Monday (Aug. 18).

Police were pursuing a third suspect in the crime.

“We are confident that we have apprehended the key perpetrators in this heinous crime,” an MPD spokesperson said.

“We are committed to ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.”

The MPD urged anyone with information on the case to come forward.
