MANILA, Philippines – Leading aviation training provider Topflite Academy is partnering with Airworks Aviation Academy to deliver critical upset prevention and recovery training (UPRT) to Airworks’ student pilots in Cebu.

The collaboration underscores Topflite’s commitment to bolstering aviation safety and cultivating the next generation of skilled pilots across the Visayan region.

An initial 39 cadets from Airworks’ Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program are expected to benefit from hands-on training using Topflite’s Cessna 152 Aerobat.

This immersive experience will equip cadets with essential skills to identify and effectively recover from in-flight upsets, a crucial competency mandated by the International Civil Aviation Organization since 2019.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is currently implementing the UPRT for all flight training organizations nationwide.

“UPRT is paramount in equipping pilots with the knowledge and skills to handle unexpected aircraft upsets, a leading cause of fatal accidents,” explains Capt. Sahl Andrew Onglatco, Topflite account manager.

“This strategic partnership reflects Topflite Academy’s dedication to delivering world-class pilot training and enhancing aviation safety standards in the Philippines,” Onglatco points out.

Topflite Academy and Airworks Aviation have received special authorization from the CAAP to conduct the program at Airworks’ training base at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, starting this month.

The training will be spearheaded by Capt. Leah Ruby “Chiclet” Pecson, Topflite Academy instructor and the first female UPRT instructor in the country.

The partnership solidifies Topflite and Airworks Aviation’s shared commitment to providing internationally recognized training programs.

These programs empower pilots in general aviation, airlines, and other sectors with the expertise necessary to ensure safe flight operations for a more secure aviation landscape, says Onglatco.
