Taylor Swift has once again rewritten the record books.

Her highly anticipated album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” has stormed the charts, achieving the UK’s biggest opening week of 2025 with a staggering 304,000 copies sold since its Friday release.

The feat surpasses even her own previous triumphs, exceeding the first-week sales of “The Tortured Poets Department” (270,000) and “Midnights” (204,000).

With just three days of sales accounted for, Swift is poised to claim the UK’s largest first-week sales since Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” in 2017 and is on track to dethrone Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short N’ Sweet” (444,000 copies) as the year’s best-selling album.

Carpenter, notably, is featured on the album’s title track.

Across the Atlantic, “The Life of a Showgirl” continues its meteoric rise, racking up a colossal 2.7 million sales in the US on its first day alone.

This marks Swift’s biggest sales week ever and the second-largest sales week for any album since 1991, trailing only Adele’s “25.”

Swifties also fueled a vinyl resurgence, snapping up a record-breaking 1.2 million copies of “The Life of a Showgirl” on wax in the US.

This shatters the previous record for vinyl album sales in a single week, driven in part by the collectible nature of the album’s eight different variants.

These impressive figures arrive amid a general decline in album sales across the music industry, underscoring Swift’s unparalleled ability to connect with her global fanbase.

Further demonstrating her multifaceted appeal, Swift also dominated the cinema box office this weekend with her concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.”

The 89-minute film, an elaborate album launch event, grossed $46 million and featured the premiere of her music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, and Swift’s personal commentary on the album’s tracks.

“The Life of a Showgirl,” reportedly written and recorded during the European leg of Swift’s Eras Tour, offers a glimpse into the star’s life as she navigates love with Travis Kelce alongside cautionary tales drawn from the music industry.

While critical reception has been mixed, the album’s commercial success is undeniable.

Dismissing recent rumors of retirement, Swift quipped, “It’s not why people get married – so that they can quit their job.”

With “The Life of a Showgirl” shattering records and her influence continuing to expand, Swift’s reign as pop royalty shows no signs of abating.
