MANILA, Philippines – AirAsia Philippines is increasing its flight frequency between Manila and Taipei from 14 to 17 weekly, effective this month.

The expansion is in response to a surge in travel demand and reinforces Taipei’s position as a top-performing international destination for the airline.

The decision follows a robust performance on the Taipei route, with AirAsia Philippines reporting an impressive average load factor of 85 percent.

This strong passenger occupancy underscores the consistent and growing interest of Filipino travelers to experience the vibrant ambiance of Taiwan’s capital.

Between January and June this year, AirAsia Philippines transported over 70,000 passengers to Taipei.

This number is projected to climb higher due to the recent extension of visa-free entry for Filipino citizens staying up to 14 days, which runs until July 31, 2026.

This visa-free policy offers a significant boost to tourism and simplifies travel for Filipinos.

“These additional flights are strategically timed as we enter the third quarter and prepare for the peak travel season,” said AirAsia Philippines President and CEO Suresh Bangah.

“We anticipate a surge in demand during the ‘Ber’ months (September through February), when many Filipinos seek Taipei’s cooler climate.

This expansion allows us to provide greater flexibility and choice for our passengers, whether they are traveling for leisure, business, or to visit loved ones.”

Beyond increasing flight frequencies, AirAsia Philippines is actively expanding its fleet, aiming to reach 16 aircraft (15+1) to meet the escalating demand across its domestic and international network.

This commitment underscores the airline’s dedication to providing accessible and reliable travel options for all, officials said.

The airline is poised to capitalize on the growing travel market and further solidify its position as a leading carrier connecting the Philippines to key international destinations.
